    Recommended Precautions

Consumer reports recommend having your water tested and considering installing a conventional water softener.  This is the best way so far to remove the minerals that create hard water.  Also, a salt ion exchange type of softener can be used with potassium chloride if there is a problem with salt.

Additional Information

To get your water tested for hardness, you should mail an 8 ounce sample to The Water Company, at 151 North Main or 700 Centre City Plaza in St. Wichita, Kansas, 67202-1408.  The Water Company is a division of Porta Via Water Company.  The Water Company can be called toll free at 877-262-5191 or e-mailed at pvwc@goodwaterco.com.  They test your water for hardness, iron, and correct pH levels.
