AGLAEA

SG BARNOWL AGLAEA (ELITE) 3*M
WHITE, DOB: 3/2016

Aglaea is one of a litter of quads born out of Barnowl Aurelia, favorite daughter of the renowned Fish (Barnowl Acythera). Aurelia is notable for her long and level topline, dairyness, flat bone, angularity, superb feet and legs, and wonderfully attached and capacous mammary. Aurelia's show wins include BJDIS at the 2011 Oregon State Fair, 2014 Washington State Fair GCH and BOB, and 2015 National Show 2nd place 4 year old, to name a few. We are so excited for this cross to the promising Barnowl Copperfield, who has extreme genetic potential and impressive daughters on the ground in several California and Pacific Northwest herds. Aglaea won Grand Champion Junior Champion La Mancha at the 2016 Tri-State Classic in West Salem. It was her first time out, and we couldn't be happier. Of note were her straight legs, excellent rib and bone, and each judge commented on her soft pliable skin.

In the fall of 2016 Aglaea and Errol made plans on their own, and consummated their relationship without our blessing ;-). It's a great cross, but we wanted to keep her dry to mature a little bit more. We were more than delighted when Aglaea freshened with a beautiful udder- Strong attachments, great width of rear udder, smooth well extended fore, just a beautiful globular udder. At the Badger State show she went 2X 1st place and both judges referred to her as the yearling with the perfect udder. As summer went on Aglaea became ill, and I was worried that she might not make it. To top it off she was becoming uneven likely due to her kids preference for one side over the other. We worked hard to nurse her along and not push her too much in the bucket. We had a late appraisal, and at this point she was not looking her best. To our relief she pulled through, and to our surprise she not only received her Superior Genetics designation, but was awarded ELITE doe status.

Aglaea was given some extra time before her second freshening, and kidded in June. She had twin bucklings, and her udder seems to be evening up some. She is stamping her kids with her "look". We are seeing long, extremely level kids with great spring of rib. There's no doubt this doe will be integral to our herd well into the future, and we're so grateful to have her.
