How to get into
Netscape Composer
Once you are logged in to the network. Go to the Start button and click and hold it. You will see a menu pop up.
Go up to Programs and up to Netscape Communicator and down to Netscape Composer. This is the software that allows us to write
web pages.
You are to go up to each word in the tool bar and
click on it to see what each menu has.
The Toolbar words are written below:
|
File |
Edit |
Insert |
Format |
Tools |
Communicator |
Go to each word and write down what each menu is
below the toolbar words.
Make a map of the buttons located below the tool
bar. There are two rows of buttons and
symbols. Take your mouse and position the cursor on each of the buttons and
hold it there (do not click on them).
Record what each but does. Make
your map in the space provided:
Go the very right hand button on the second
row. Click and hold on it. This button allows you to align your text
either to the right or center. (you will need to do this later)
Begin typing your text. Netscape Composer functions as a very simple word processor so
you should be somewhat comfortable.
After you have been typing on your file, save your
file by going to File and down to Save As. At the Save In box,
make sure you are in the folder that you want to save in, the click OK to save.
To see what your page looks like, you must save
your work and then click on the Preview button
Note:
You can work on the project at home. In
order to do this, you must have the correct software. You need a version of Netscape Communicator that is version 4.5
or higher. If you don't have Netscape
but you have access to the internet, you can download a copy of it by going to http://home.netscape.com/computing/download/index.html
It takes a while to do, so we suggest you download
it over night.
