More Than Kids Stuff
by Kimberly Collins

Kids begin arriving at Hidden Treasure Arabian Ranch when the morning dew still wets their  shoes. Horses nicker in anticipation of the morning feeding.  Natsu, the barn cat, gives loving leg rubs to sleepy headed youth, who's hearts are filled with excitement for another day at the Ranch.

There are no “Barn Princesses” found here, only youth willing to do what it takes to work with horses.  That includes fencing, cleaning stalls and putting up hay.  The Christian Ranchers’ horsemanship program is
Bible-based with a hard-work/high-ethics attitude which inspires students to excellence for a lifetime.

We don't just teach riding here.  We teach life. The lessons start by teaching responsibility.  Students learn early on that horses require a lot of care, and that any
respect they receive from the horses and others, they will earn.   The kids learn to give and take in their relationships with their horses and each other.  They learn not to expect things to be given to them, and that
life is about hard work and self-discipline.

Daily Bible studies are shared at noon by local lay persons and sometimes by the students themselves.  The youth are encouraged to study God's Word, to pray for one another, and to share their thoughts and concerns openly.  The kids take those lessons to the riding ring, and learning to hold things together mentally and physically under pressure.  A student can carry that ability throughout the rest of their life.

Many have seen an improvement in self-image, their school grades and their relationships with family and friends.  A relationship with Jesus, the Living Christ,
gives life meaning for these kids.  They begin to see a future for themselves, and begin seeking God’s will for their lives with enthusiasm.

Many people see that we are about horses, but there is more going on here than meets the eye.  The true meaning of our mission is to improve the lives of this
generation and their families; to show them an eternal future with Christ, Our Lord and Savior; and to prepare all, whose hearts are called into ministry to further the Kingdom.
