| Adventures on Chela's Magic Homepage |
On these pages, over the next few months, you will meet the founding Parents of the
Love Pantheon
and their Love Offspring also called The Beings. Come see the paintings, drawings, etchings, and soft sculpture
showing their discovery, growth and stories as they dwell in their world "parallel" to ours.
They were hidden from view until I, Chela, found them in the steamy broil of dreams, visions
and art-making mess!
Tranced-forth, Shamanic-journeyed-----they came forth!

A very basic belief of mine is that there are no "accidents" in art-making. The slip of a brush, pen, or pencil is a call from the unconscious. This becomes an opening into the "BIGGER-THAN-ME" Scene. These 'scenes' happen in my dreams and meditations as well as art-making. I have been led to develop processes in drawing, painting & printmaking that aid and support this open, meditative art-making.
I have been an artist active for 35 years and using a wide
range of media including painting
in oils, acrylics and water color, drawing, soft sculpture and varieties of printmaking. My
work,
stylistically, has many influences from far flung cultures like the Far Eastern, Native and
Meso American, as well as Western European techniques such as oil glazing and printmaking.
I received a BA from Roosevelt University in Chicago, did work at the Art Institute of
Chicago; I also did graduate work at the University of California, Berkeley and received
a Masters in Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona, Tucson.
I have shown my work extensively and have taken a leading role in artist-driven
organizations thru-out my career. Currently I am Adjunct Art Professor for Viterbo University,
LaCrosse, WI, and for Northeast Iowa Community College in Calmar, IA. My students consist of
liberal arts undergraduates and non-art majors who want to understand art and art history. I
also teach or have taught Introduction to Design, Drawing, painting, and intaglio, woodcut &
monotype to college level populations as well as in weekend retreats, art centers, and special
institutions with special populations. My goal is to make art available to all sorts of people
so they can find and experience its importance for their personal lives.
