Help! Planning Meeting for 3rd Annual St Charles Parish Steak Fry and Holiday Fellowship Fundraiser this Thursday, October 22 at 7:00 PM.  We need lots of parishioner involvement to help organize this Parish Event for early December.  The Parish needs both the July 4th and this December Fundraiser to continue for the Parish finances to remain sound.  For parishioners who have not been involved, please come to this planning meeting Thursday night – be assured your help will be welcomed.

 

Diocese Annual Appeal (DAA): If you did not receive a pledge card, please call Carrol at the office (689-2642), or pick up a blank pledge card at back of Church.

To maximize needed rebates to pay bills, our Diocese/Parish Goal is:      $15,000

Received as of October 15: 46 Gifts/Pledges totaling                                 $  9,605

                                                 

The average gift/pledge so far has been $208.  For those who have not been harmed by the poor economy, a larger gift/pledge could make up for those who have been seriously affected.   Please return the pledge card in the enclosed envelope, either in the collection basket or mailed – don’t forget to sign the pledge card.   Please pray over your gift/pledge decision.

A Special Thank You from the Family of Trent Pedretti.  Words are not enough to express our deepest appreciation for all the love, support, and food that was given to us during this difficult time. The number of people to thank is almost endless. Special Thanks to everyone who took part in the funeral mass and the luncheon. Please keep Trent in your prayers. Jim & Pat Pedretti Open House Today:  Friends and family are invited to attend the 50th Wedding Anniversary Open House for Jim & Pat Pedretti today, Sunday, October 18th from 11 AM to 3 PM in the St. Charles Gymnasium hosted by their children.  Jim & Pat were married October 17, 1959.

 

Status of Projects:  A ramp donation of $100 was received.  We are very appreciative of the eight donations of $14,600 received so far ($5,000; $5,000; $2,000; $1,000; $500; $500; $500; $100).  Keeping the church in proper and beautiful condition shows our love for God. 

Landscaping suggestions to restore the flowers and replace the Pro Life Marker with a bigger sign should be directed to Cathy Stevenson (648-3577) or Ed & Sue Bush. The south roof ice and snow bar has been contracted for at a cost of $2100 (the lower of two bids) and will be installed soon.   

 

Some additional retaining walls were successfully constructed in the old Cemetery Part.  The contractor advised us that the main retaining wall (by the road) should be repaired soon.  This will be considered by the Cemetery Committee.

 

St. Charles PTO Annual Spaghetti Supper:  Tonight, October 17th with serving 5-7:30 PM.

 

Today Sunday October 18: IC Parish, Lansing, $8.50 Pork/Turkey Dinner serving til 1:00 PM.

 

This Wednesday October 21: St Mary’s, Viroqua, $7.50 Turkey Dinner serving from 4:30-7:30 PM.  Children under 5 free, and youth to age 12 $4.  Carry Outs $8 from 4-6 PM.
