3rd Annual St Charles Parish Steak Fry & Fellowship/Holiday Party will be held at the Retreat Sportsmen’s Club, on Saturday December 12 serving from 5 to 8PM, with silent auction theme baskets, gun raffles, tip boards, refreshments, and a live auction of donated items at 8 PM. All parishioners are needed to (i) volunteer for set-up/shifts/clean-up (ii) sell the Advance Dinner Tickets and (iii) donate items and theme baskets for the silent and live auction. (sign-up sheet in back of Church). The Advance Dinner Tickets are $12 and available after each Mass – please take and sell to friends, family and co-workers. Please realize the treasure we have here at St Charles – make this work! For parishioners who have not been involved, please get involved – look at the sign-up sheets – prepare a theme basket, search for live auction items (please no white elephants) - be assured your help will be welcomed.
Diocese Annual Appeal (DAA): If you did not receive a pledge card, please call Carrol at the office (689-2642), or pick up a blank pledge card at back of Church.
To maximize needed rebates to pay bills, our Diocese/Parish Goal is: $15,000
Received as of October 15: 66 Gifts/Pledges totaling $13,165
The average gift/pledge so far has been $199. For those who have not been harmed by the poor economy, a larger gift/pledge could make up for those who have been seriously affected. Please return the pledge card in the enclosed envelope, either in the collection basket or mailed – don’t forget to sign the pledge card. Please pray over your gift/pledge decision.

Status of Projects: The south church roof ice and snow bar has been installed, and various cracks in Alley and Parking Lot had sealant applied. Some additional retaining walls were successfully constructed in the old Cemetery Part. The contractor advised us that the main retaining wall (by the road) should be repaired soon. This will be considered by the Cemetery Committee. Also, our parish friend from Madison, Peter Clark, has offered us $3000 for a Memorial Altar and Plaque to honor all the Veterans on the site of the present ruined Chapel which would be taken down. The Cemetery Committee and the Parish Council will consider this proposal.
Exercise Group Meeting: Are you looking for someone to work out with? Want to get active? Also meeting on Saturday morning 9 AM for Yoga. Everyone is welcome. A $2 contribution is suggested to be given to a worthy cause – already donated $70 to Food Pantry. For questions, call Julie Tully 689-2919 or 608-769-6877 OR just come!
