Pastoral Paragraph: I want to thank everyone for your prayers for my sister Lori who recently had ovarian cancer surgery. Lori got out of the hospital this past Wednesday and is recuperating at her home. The surgery went well and she is actually doing remarkably well. She’ll begin some chemo treatments in a couple of weeks after she fully recovers from the surgery. When Mary and I went to see her last Friday, we took along several get-well cards that were made by the younger school children. They were a real hit and day-brightener for her! I ask your continued prayers for Lori’s benefit.
I also ask your prayers for Fred and Linda Pedretti’s family. Fred’s sister, Pat Pedretti Hanson, died in an auto accident this past week while on vacation in Texas. Her husband Dave was badly hurt and is in hospitalized in Texas. Pat and her husband live in Viroqua. Please remember Pat and her family in your prayers. May she rest in peace!
This past Friday, November 11, our school held its annual Veterans Day observance. The Genoa American Legion Color Guard was present and Don Curti provided an address to the students, guests and community members. Afterward everyone enjoyed a Community Day luncheon with students. Many of the students had family members attend – particularly grandparents who were veterans. We were especially honored to have a veteran of WWII, Mr. Leo Davidson, in attendance. Please remember to thank and pray for our service men and women. May God bless them!
The Diocesan Annual Appeal is continuing and I want to sincerely thank those of you who have made responses for the benefit of our parish! We are already at 75% toward reaching our parish goal! This is an important achievement that requires the participation of many individuals with gifts of all sizes. I’m most grateful for your contributions. Please see the update below.

Community Thanksgiving Luncheon will be on Monday, November 21 at 11:30. Please call the school 689-2642 to help with our meal count. Everyone from the community is invited!
The New Translation of the Roman Missal will be implemented in two weeks on the First Sunday of Advent. We will be learning some of the new sung parts of the Mass over the next couple of weeks. Last Sunday we started with a new sung acclamation that went very well. A special thanks to Ellen Umberger and our cantors for their extra time and effort in preparing for these changes.
Diocesan Annual Appeal – We are the Diocese! We are very pleased with the number of gifts/pledges that have already been processed toward our parish goal of $11,640. As of this past week we have had $8,690.00 gifted or pledged which represents about 75% of the goal. There is still plenty of time to make your gift or pledge. No gift is too small, and the pledge option provides a way to make a modest monthly gift have greater impact. Thank you for your participation!
