$1000 Scholarship for any Parish 8th Grader Planning to Attend Aquinas High School: A River Bank $1000 tuition assistance scholarship is available for any Parish 8th grader enrolling in Aquinas High School in the fall. Call Fr Roy at rectory if interested.

Confirmation Practice Monday May 5 at Cathedral and Confirmation May 7: Confirmation Students & Sponsors – Confirmation ceremony practice is Monday evening May 5 at 7 PM at the Cathedral, and Confirmation is Wednesday evening May 7 at 7 PM at the Cathedral with Bishop Listecki.
Benefit Planned May 10 for 3 ˝ year old Jordan Lomen daughter of Chad and Vicki Lomen and granddaughter of Larry and Kathy Pedretti. Jordan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphatic Leukemia on Jan 14, 2008. The benefit for Jordan, to help with medical and family expenses, is on May 10, 2008 at the Retreat Community Center from 2 PM until 12 AM. There will be raffles, Chinese auction, bake sale, music, food and beverages. Donated baked goods are needed and can be dropped off at Steve’s Country Meats on Friday May 9 between 3 and 5 PM. High School Graduates: The 10:00 AM Mass on Sunday May 18 will be in prayer and celebration for the 2008 Graduates from St Charles Parish. Graduate Names and details to follow later. If able to help, please call Barb Zeimet at 648-2379.
Also on May 18 St Elizabeth’s in Holmen will Fete Fr Malin’s 50 Years as a Priest On May 24, 1958, Fr Del Malin was ordained a priest. He celebrated a first solemn Mass the next day at St Charles Church, Genoa. St Elizabeth’s (515 North Main Street, Holmen) has sent notice to us that a Mass and reception will be held on Sunday May 18 at 10:15 AM at St Elizabeth’s. The reception is from Noon to 3 PM with a short program at 3 PM. “Your presence will be your gift. Please come and celebrate with Fr Malin and with us (St Elizabeth’s).”
Fr Schulte Cemetery Memorial Dedication on May 25 after the 10 AM Mass: The Cemetery Committee is installing the beautiful Stone & Carving Memorial to Fr Schulte. A short Dedication Service will be at the Cemetery at 11:15 AM followed by a Parish Meal at the School on Sunday May 25. Please plan on attending.
Totus Tous “Totally Yours” at Blessed Sacrament School June 22-27: Grade schoolers from 9 AM to 3 PM Monday to Friday; Middle and High Schoolers from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM Sunday – Thursday. Cost is $20 - open to all Catholic youth but space is limited – to register early, call Pauline Connell at 782-2953. Volunteers and snack makers needed.
Wisconsin Right to Life La Crosse Chapter Rummage Sale on Friday May 2 from 7:30 AM to 4 PM, and Saturday. May 3 from 7:30 AM until noon, located at 11th and Ferry Street. Donated good rummage sale items are needed and can be dropped off on Thursday May 1. Call 783-2757.
Genoa/De Soto American Legion Post 246 catfish fry, featuring Beck’s famous catfish, is Saturday, May 3rd. Serving will be from 4-8 PM in the Genoa Clubroom. KEEP OUR TROOPS IN YOUR PRAYERS!
Annual N.W. Prairie Lutheran Church Catfish Dinner: will be Friday May 9 from 4:30 to 8:30 PM – located in West Prairie midway between De Soto and Viroqua on Hwy 82.
School Year Extended: St Charles School will be extended to Thursday June 5th to make up missed days and to coincide with the De Soto School District.
