The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick:  Anointing of the Sick, one of the seven Sacraments, is recommended for any serious illness or medical procedure, and for the elderly in a weakened condition.  The Sacrament can be repeated for new illnesses or if renewal or worsening of the first illness. The sacrament renews confidence and faith in God and strengthens against temptations to discouragement and anguish.  It thus leads to spiritual healing with forgiveness of sins and, sometimes, to bodily healing as well.  The Sacrament can be given at home, in the hospital or nursing home.  Simply call Fr Roy at the rectory (689-2646).

Recruiting New Diaconate Class Applicants See the attached information to the bulletin, and call Fr Roy if interested.  Deacons are becoming important to the diocese – they can baptize, and officiate at weddings and funeral services, and preach the homily during Mass.  Diaconate candidates can be married.

Church Lighting Brighter  Thanks to the generosity of Duane Jambois, and the ingenuity of Greg Werner, our Church lighting over the pews is brighter, (particularly noticeable at night).  We briefly investigated new chandeliers but ours are more beautiful than almost anything available.  Thus, Greg was asked to come up with new wiring and more powerful light bulbs for the existing fixtures.  And he succeeded (after spending much time above the ceiling, in the Sacristy, and in the basement).  Please thank Duane and Greg when you see them.

CCD/Confirmation Classes this Week:   Classes continue this Wednesday, April 9 at 6:45 PM.

St. Charles Quilters will meet Sunday night (April 6th) in the Lello Room at 5:30 PM.

St. Charles PTO would like to thank our wonderful teachers, friends, and family in the Parish and community!  We had a very successful Spring Carnival because of your support.  The funds raised will go toward the books, supplies, field trips, and other needs of the children.  With your help, we are raising a great group of kids here who can be proud of where they come from!

Would You Like To Talk to Others Who Have Lost Someone to Suicide?  Every 3rd Wednesday each month 7:00 – 9:00 PM, starting April 16 at Holy Trinity Parish 1315 South Park Street (basement of Leo Hall) in La Crosse.  Call 769-5007 if any questions.

Genoa/De Soto American Legion Post 246 will be having a catfish fry, featuring Beck’s famous catfish, on Saturday, April 12th.  Serving will be from 4-8 PM in the Genoa Clubroom.  KEEP OUR TROOPS IN YOUR PRAUERS!

Fr Schulte Cemetery Memorial Goal Reached:  The goal of $9,000 has been exceeded ($9450).  The Cemetery Committee has ordered a beautiful Stone & Carving in Memorial of Fr Schulte for installation in the spring at a cost of $9,000.  This will add to the beauty and sacredness of the Cemetery.  Any excess funds will be used for perpetual care.  A Dedication Service & Luncheon is being planned for Sunday May 25 after the 10:00 AM Mass.

Benefit Planned for 3 ˝ year old Jordan Lomen daughter of Chad and Vicki Lomen and granddaughter of Larry and Kathy Pedretti.  Jordan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphatic Leukemia on Jan 14, 2008.  The benefit for Jordan, to help with medical and family expenses, is on May 10, 2008 at the Retreat Community Center from 2:00 PM until 12:00 AM.  There will be raffles, Chinese auction, bake sale, music, food and beverages.  Donated baked goods are needed and can be dropped off at Steve’s Country Meats on Friday May 9 between 3 and 5 PM.  For further information, contact Kathy Pedretti at 689-2384.
