St Charles Parish Assistance in Filming Two TV Masses with Bishop Listecki as Celebrant was Successful. Thanks to everyone who participated/attended, particularly to Ellen for gathering a strong choir and Canters. The bishop is quite simply a joy to be around. We made a good impression as a parish last year, and again this year the servers, lectors, gift bearers, and Eucharist Ministers were excellent. Thank you again.
Next Sunday May 17 Mass will be Dedicated to our Area High School Graduates from our Parish. Refreshments will be served after Mass at the school.
Our Annual Mass at Sacred Heart Church in De Soto: is scheduled for Sunday, June 14 at 8:30 AM.
River Bank Holding Company Donation of $1500: A gift in the amount of $1500 has been made to St Charles Parish in support of our Catholic School (or Religious Education Program). The gift is from River Bank. This is particularly appreciated in these difficult economic times.
Needed: School Cleaning Volunteer/Volunteers. We are seeking a volunteer or volunteers to clean the school. Diane Siler has done a wonderful job for the last two years, and has saved the parish this expense. This job requires dedication to a daily/weekly schedule during the school year, and an awareness of when the school building will be hosting an event (i.e fundraisers, or the occasional summer event i.e 4th of July). If able and willing to do this or do it with someone jointly, please call Fr Roy at the rectory 689-2646.
Totus Tous “Totally Yours” at Blessed Sacrament School July 26-31: this Catholic youth program shares the gospel and church teachings with young people in a week of special activities and fun. Grade Schoolers from 9 AM to 2:30 PM Monday to Friday – they bring a sack lunch; Middle/High Schoolers from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM Sunday – Thur. Cost is $25 before July 1, $30 after - open to all Catholic youth but space is limited – to register early, call Pauline Connell at 782-2953 ext.3. Volunteers needed to help in classrooms with snacks and lunch.

Adult Inquiry Class for Anyone Wanting to Join or Rejoin the Catholic Church or With Questions about the Eucharist after Divorce, Annulments, and Blessing of Non Church Marriages, please come Wednesday May 20 to the Rectory with Fr Roy at 7 PM. Our Diocese Tribunal has had an open and competent approach to Anulments – the following are answers from them about frequently asked questions:
MYTH: An annulment renders the children of a marriage illegitimate.
TRUTH: An annulment does not change the status of children in any way.
MYTH: Annulments cost thousands of dollars.
TRUTH: The Diocese of La Crosse requests a $400 contribution for a process that costs more than twice that to complete. In situations of great financial hardship, the amount requested is either reduced or waived entire
MYTH: It takes years to receive an annulment.
TRUTH: Most cases in the Diocese of La Crosse are completed in less than eight months.
MYTH: An annulment means a marriage never existed.
TRUTH: An annulment does not deny the reality that a civil marriage occurred. When an annulment is granted, it is merely a declaration that a union lacked an essential element and, as a result of that defect, the parties involved should no longer be held to their vows.
More questions or curious about petitioning for a possible annulment? Contact the Matrimonial Tribunal by phone (608) 791-2684 or e-mail Tribunal@dioceseoflacrosse.com.
