July 4th Homecoming Picnic Again a Big Success! St Charles again hosted a wonderfully friendly picnic, which some say has been held consecutively on July 4th for the last 108 years. A thank you list is impossible – there are over 100 Names on the work list for July 4 alone not including the crews Sat morn June 27, Friday night July 3, and Sunday afternoon July 5. But let me single out three individuals: Frex (many details), Dick Cota (solicits the raffle prizes from businesses, and prints the tickets), and Trent Pedretti (Emcee & Setup). But we must mention Chris Magnuson (game/prizes), Jan/Lynn Lee/Marge Gillespie (numerous errands & tasks), Kathy Pedretti (Country Store) the Bolands (computer work list & Refreshment stand), Adolph & Carmi (chicken/pie donation requests), Teri Urbanek/finance members (control over $25000 cash), the famous Risotto crew, the food line workers and waitresses, ticket sellers and takers, the Quilters, car parking control, carryouts, bingo workers, game workers, Don Curti’s big board, country store workers, the tip boards/Nevada Joe/beer stand workers. Missed anyone? Alvin Berra (publicity signs & setup), Bill Jambois (weather), Fr Roy (worrying), Nate Trussoni (cemetery lawn), Rick Krause (timely tuck pointing and water pressure cleaning). Anyone else? Quite a few others – God knows them by Name, but you get the idea – this annual July 4th thing is almost a miracle. A total of 870 dinners were served (596 sitdown and 274 carryouts), with leftovers sold ($524) equivalent to another 68 carryouts. A followup planning meeting will be held this Monday Eve July 13 at 7:00 pm - all are encouraged to attend. Raffle winners are attached to this bulletin. The financial results follow:
