St.
Charles Parish SCRIP Program
Check out other SCRIP retailers that can be special ordered.
SCRIP is a term that means "substitute money".
When members and friends of St. Charles Parish purchase
SCRIP, they're purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are used just like
cash. The SCRIP is issued by national and local retailers where many of our
families already shop. These merchants want to support non-profit organizations,
and in return ask you to support them by shopping with SCRIP at their stores. We
can use SCRIP to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other
essentials, and with every purchase, we earn revenue for St. Charles.
How SCRIP generates revenue for you.
Because the SCRIP is purchased with cash up front, the
participating retailers offer a substantial discount. We buy the SCRIP at a
discount, and re-sell the certificates to members for full face value. The bulk
of the discount - from two to twenty five percent - is retained by our parish as
revenue.
As
a consumer, you can designate up to 50% of the SCRIP
profit to the church building
fund, education fund, or towards the tuition for a specific
St. Charles School student.
SCRIP is "shopping cart fundraising”.
The reason for the effectiveness of SCRIP is
simple: families generate revenue through purchases they
would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, gifts, and gasoline can be purchased
with SCRIP. If your family uses SCRIP for these purchases, we can raise
thousands of dollars per year for St. Charles --without spending an additional
penny.
Retailers like SCRIP,
too.
Families who purchase SCRIP certificates actively support
the retailers who participate in this program. The reason is simple… they know
that buying from a SCRIP participating retailer provides a steady source of
revenue for their church and school.
How can you participate?
It is quite simple—
Members of St. Charles Parish will be selling SCRIPbefore
and after Saturday and Sunday Masses. In
addition, SCRIP will be available everyday at Pedretti’s Kwik Stop in Genoa.
Simply complete an order form indicating the stores and amount of SCRIP you wish to purchase along with a check or cash.
The SCRIP will be given to you on the spot.
Sometimes we may be out of SCRIP for a certain store, but it will be
ordered and available usually in just a few days.
SCRIP can also be pre-ordered at St. Charles school and available for
pickup on the weekend.
Make it a habit.
The best thing you can do to help us raise funds for St.
Charles Parish without it costing a dime is to make SCRIP a part of your
routine. Are you buying gas or
groceries this week? Then pick up
some SCRIP. Are birthday gifts or
new clothes on your list? Then pick
up some SCRIP. It really is that
simple.
Thank you for taking just a few minutes to make this
program a success.
