 Catholic Charities Financial Services

Catholic Charities Financial Counselors meet with people experiencing personal financial difficulties.  Staff analyze issues, problem solve, teach financial management techniques & consumer rights, develop household budgets, review credit records, help develop repayment plans and discuss formal debt management plans.  Services are subject to a sliding fee scale, based on income.  Counseling fees range from $2 to $50, based on a sliding scale.  However, service is available to everyone, regardless of ability to pay.  In addition, service is free for anyone with immediate housing concerns, which includes reverse mortgage and homebuyer counseling.

All services are completely confidential.

Consumers can utilize their Counselor for resources and information and manage financial issues on their own, or they can participate in a Debt Management Plan which entails additional staff advocacy and coordination.  Counselors may mediate or advocate on a consumer's behalf to negotiate mortgage workout agreements with lenders or refer for appropriate refinancing opportunities.  Some can also assist with pre-purchase homebuyer education and counseling as well as fair housing education.

We provide a variety of short one or two hour seminars to local organizations and businesses, revolving around personal money management as well.
