Marc and Karla Pronschinske will be coordinating the Catholic Schools Week Breakfast on Sunday, January 31st after the 8:00 am mass.

If you are able to help set up, work during the breakfast or clean up after the breakfast please contact Marc and Karla at 323-7160.

Lip Sync

We will be having the Lip Sync on Friday, January 29th to kick off Catholic Schools Week.  Each classroom will put together one performance.  Each student can participate in up to three performances, with the exception of the eighth graders who will be allowed to perform in four.  Families are encouraged to participate and come up with a performance of their own.

For those families new to our school, the Lip Sync is a fundraiser.  After each performance a collection is taken (change, small bills) and those groups earning the most could win the cash prizes at the end.  The rest of the money will go toward our end of the year field trip, which will be announced in the spring.

Dinner plans for the evening of the Lip Sync will be a little different this year.  The dinner theme this year is "Keep It Simple".  Dinner will be at 6:30 pm with the show to follow.  We will be having hot ham sandwiches (provided by the school) and munchies.  Each family is asked to bring the following:

Scholastic Book Fair for Catholic Schools Week

The books that are for sale for the book fair are located in the art room.  Students can purchase books at any time this week or next week.  When students decide on the books they would like to purchase, they should take the books and the money for payment directly to their teacher.

The book fair will be open during the Lip Sync and after mass on Sunday.  A cash box will be available during those times for payment.

Cash or check will be accepted for payment of items at the book fair.  Checks should be made out to St. Boniface School.

Family Book Exchange

On Thursday of Catholic Schools Week we will be having a Family Book Exchange.  What we are planning is to have each family bring in books that they would like to move on.  Then we will display the books in our classrooms and the children will choose from the books on display.  Your family's participation in the book exchange is optional.  All the children will be able to participate in the exchange, even if they didn't bring books.

2nd Quarter Report Cards

Report cards for the second quarter are located in the family folders this week.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's report card, please contact his or her teacher directly.

Hobby Demonstrations

We are inviting people from the community to come in and share their hobbies with the children.  We will have the demonstrations on Wednesday afternoon.  If you or someone you know would like to give a demonstration, please contact Mrs. Pyka at school.

Thank  You for Decorating and Organizing

A HUGE thank you goes out to Patti Waters and her "crew" for all their behind the scenes work in getting everything ready to go for the Lip Sync.  We couldn't do it without them.

Where Did All the Teachers Go?

The entire staff is participating in a wonderful opportunity for our school.  Last Wednesday and this past Tuesday we all attended meetings for the Reading First Initiative.  We will also attend two more meetings in February, along with a visit to the Alma Elementary School.

We were invited by the Alma School District to participate in this wonderful opportunity.  Our staff is able to attend seminars and workshops to build our reading program here at St. Boniface.   We will also visit the Alma Elementary School to see how they have already implemented the strategies we are learning.

In addition, we will receive various resources to use in our classrooms.  This is all being provided free of charge to our school.  What a wonderful gift for all our staff and students!.
