Mail Orders Shipped as Bare Root Stock

Mail orders are shipped as bare root stock when the plants are dormant.

We currently offer only three species for mail order shipments:   Eastern Bluebells, Jack-in-the-Pulpit, and Spring Beauty. Click here for 2008 prices and shipping information for these species.

Unfortunately, it is not cost effective for us to ship other species at this time. Customers in or near southern Wisconsin may purchase any of the species we offer as potted plants. Please see where to buy for information on purchasing potted plants.

All of our plants are derived from plant populations native to southwestern Wisconsin, and they are well suited for all types of plantings within a 200 mile radius of our nursery. Beyond this range, our plants are suitable for home gardens anywhere in the northeastern United States, and we would expect our plants to do well in this region. (It is harder to predict how our plants would do in more southern climates.) However, in the interest of protecting local genotypes, we do not recommend that our plants be used in natural areas (e.g., woodland restorations) outside of a 200 mile radius of southwestern Wisconsin. In those cases, plants of a more local genotype would be more suitable.

We encourage anyone looking for native plants to purchase plants propagated from seed sources and plant materials from their own region. PlantNative and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center web sites both provide databases of native plant nurseries that can be searched by state or province. Your state department of natural resources or native plant society may also have information on native plant nurseries in your area.
