Relive the old west at Woodside Ranch, Mauston Wisconsin.

LOCATION
Woodside Ranch is located five miles east of Mauston and twenty miles northwest of Wisconsin Dells in the heart of the famous Upper Dells region. The ranch, consisting of over 1200 acres, is situated on a high wooded hillside which offers a panoramic view of the beautiful Lemonweir River Valley.

RIDING

Our stable has many excellent horses and whether it is summer or winter you will find a lot of activity as the horses are saddled and you and your family gather to start your ride. You are sure to enjoy your riding over the woodland trails, down the secluded country roads or through the Whispering pines after a fresh snowfall. (The silence is deafening).

Our string includes over 50 horses which makes it possible for all riders to find a mount to their liking.

Along with our regular daily rides, another popular activity is the morning ride out to "Breakfast on the Trail" where guests have their choice of a complete breakfast menu served hot off the grill. This meal is served in wooded surroundings that give new meaning to the word atmosphere.

If the trail rides are a little too much for you, we have Instructions available for beginners. The pony ring with its small gentle ponies are for the small fry, and will keep them happy for hours. The larger ponies (ridden in the corral) take care of the middle size members of your family that are still too young to ride a full size horse on the trails. On Thursday mornings many guests also enter and compete for ribbons at our morning horse show. There is an event for every level rider from the tiny tots on up.

WATER AND WATERING HOLES
THE TRADING POST (our little Cantina)
with the Horseshoe Cocktail Bar is a popular rendezvous spot for our Guests. Ice Cream, pizza, soda, (an occasional shot of red eye), Souvenirs, Evening Snacks, Incidentals, and Western items are all available. Just outside the Trading Post, a refreshing dip in our beautiful, heated, private pool will invigorate you on the warmest day. Open from mid-May to late September, sunbathers are quick to take advantage of the sunny terrace bordering the pool where they may bask until they are golden brown. Many finish their swim with a visit to the sauna, located in the Round-up Room.

Families enjoy the paddle and row boats on our newly enlarged private fishing pond. The pond is stocked with Bass, and also contains Crappies, Bluegill, Pike and Catfish. The fishing is great with no license needed. You will also find good fishing on nearby Castle Rock and Petenwell Lakes(the third and fifth largest lakes in the state) which are part of the Wisconsin river and are within 5 minutes of Woodside.
Canoeing is also available through a nearby resort on the Wisconsin River.

WHAT IF I'M NOT INTO HORSES ?

If horseback riding is not for you and you don't enjoy the water activities mentioned above, maybe shuffleboard, tennis, mini-golf, tether ball, horseshoes, hiking, games at the pool or covered wagon rides will keep you and your family entertained. If you are still bored, the Round-up Room at the back of the Trading Post, is our game room and provides you with video games, pool tables and ping pong. The golfing enthusiast will also like to know that Woodside is within 20 minutes of four very nice courses. They range from 9 holes to 36 holes.

GOOD FOOD & PLENTY OF IT
