Who:  Five 10th - 12th High School Students per school   

What:  JSHS  Science Workshop

Where:  Pigeon Lake  in Drummond Wisconsin

When:  Sunday  (noon)  -  Tuesday (noon) - be home by 5 p.m.
              Usually the 3rd week in September

Cost:  $ for lunch on the way up and back.  Everything else is FREE (meals and housing)

Why should I go:

You don't have to have a project to go.

If you want to go as a Senior, you must take a science project.

Usually 8 students out of 75 who go to JSHS present projects.

First place gets $2,000
Second place gets $1,500
Third place gets $1,000

The top 5 students go to the National Workshop - All expense paid in April for 5 days where students who was selected #1 and #2 at Pigeon Lake will get another chance to present for more $$$$$

At Nationals

1st place is an additional $16,000

2nd place is an additional $6,000

3rd place is an additional $2,000

Three years ago, Laura Appleman from Westby won 3rd and earned  a total of $6,000.

You stay in cabins right on Pigeon lake.

Canoe, bike, hike, camp fires  and lots of fun

You meet students from 15 different schools and see some neat projects.

Ask Anastasia, she has been there but it was in the summer and she doesn't like spiders.

Remember that if you are out for sports, you will have to miss Monday and Tuesday.

your teacher by May 10th

1. What is your interest in science?

2.  Why should you be selected for this trip?

3.  If you were selected and decided to return to Pigeon lake the second year, what area of science would you be interested in studying?

4.  Do you have any science mentors outside of school who could help you with a project?

5.  Are you in any activity (sports/work) in the fall that would conflict with you going to Pigeon Lake?

If so, are you willing to put Pigeon Lake FIRST?
