The Dissection Manual

The manual should have a cover, table of contents, and section for each of the organisms we will look at in biology in the 4th quarter.

Copy and paste the 13 questions into Word for each animal we dissect.
Answer each question in your neatest hand writing or printing - no typing accepted!!

Each section should include the following information for each organism:

   1.   Name of Organism you should give the common and scientific name  

  1. Classification For any in the Animalia kingdom: give kingdom, phylum, class, genus, and species. For organisms in other kingdoms: give kingdom, phylum
     For help look at Appendix A on page 1121 in your textbook
  1. Facts: List any facts you have learned about the organism. Must have at least three for each organism.

  4. Diagrams: There should be a diagram for each of the organisms. If they are    being dissected, the diagram should show internal and external structures. Diagrams for bacteria and protists should show the different shapes and varieties.

  5. Heart Type

  6. Oxygen/carbon dioxide exchange

  7. Reproduction

  8. Brain

  9. Nerve cord

  10. Digestive tract

  11. Special Adaptations:

Write about or list any special adaptations that the organism has that helps it survive and thrive.

  1. Importance: Of what importance is this organism to the world? Does it have any economical value? How does it fit into the food chain?

 13. Habitat (where does it live) and related species
