JSHS General Information
DATES
The symposium begins on Sunday evening with registration/introductions, field trip on Monday to Big Bay State Park/Madeline Island and concludes on Tuesday afternoon following the student presentations, lunch and awards ceremony.
LOCATION
Pigeon Lake Field Station, Drummond, WI, is located on Highway 62 about 17 miles north of Hayward. Follow Pigeon Lake Field Station signs after reaching Drummond. In the event of an emergency, the telephone number at the field station is (715) 739-6655. Teachers must drive students to the symposium and return them to their homes. STUDENTS MAY NOT ATTEND THE SYMPOSIUM WITHOUT A TEACHER FROM THEIR SCHOOL. No student drivers are allowed.
WHAT TO BRING
You will need a sleeping bag, flashlight, munchies, towels, washcloth, and other personal toiletries. Campfires are held each night. Insect repellent might come in handy also. Weather can be unpredictable in Northern Wisconsin so be sure to bring a coat/jacket, sweatshirt, and rain gear. Activities are planned for the outdoors so come prepared!
GENERAL STUDENT RULES
1. The buddy system must be used at all times.
2. No student may possess, consume, or use drugs or alcohol.
3. All students must be in their assigned cabins at the designated "lights out" time for the remainder of the night except to use the restroom facility.
4. Participants must clean up after themselves.
5. Students must follow the requests of any adult supervisor.
Infraction of any of these rules will result in the JSHS director requesting that the parent/guardian pick up the student at Pigeon Lake Field Station.
