Purpose: To calculate mole facts from the contents of Animole Crackers.

Given: Information from the Nutrition Facts on the side of a box of Animole Crackers.

Please calculate the following and show all of your work for credit.

__________1. What is the serving size in moles of Animole Crackers?

__________2. How many actual servings are in a box of Animole Crackers?

(express your answer in scientific moletation)

__________3. Calculate the # of caged animoles in moles.

__________4. Express Nabisco’s phone # in animole moletation.

__________5. How many moles does one animole cracker equal?

__________6. Compare the density of one animole cracker to the solvent, milk.

__________7. Let’s say you can dissolve one animole cracker in 1 gulp of milk.

If 1 gulp = 25 ml (I measured with my kid’s medicine dropper)then

what would be the molarity of animole crackers you could

make using a gallon of milk?

Teachers all across the country are discovering that Mole Day, October 23rd (10-23) is a

perfect opportunity to promote an awareness and enthusiasm for chemistry. Mole Day?

October 23rd? Back in the 19th century an Italian scientist, Amadeo Avogadro

hypothesized that equal volumes of gases, under the same conditions of temperature and

pressure contain the same number of molecules. Later, this number of molecules was

determined to be 6.02 x 1023. Today, chemists still rely on the quantity known as the mole,

which contains Avogadro´s number of formula units.
