Your Plant Booklet must contain information in Story form  (Once upon a time...) which 
  includes the following sections like chapters in a book:

Here are the words to use in your story.  Start your story with the Root Vocab.

Root Vocab:  Germination, Root, Root Hair, Epidermis, Apical Meristem
                        Xylem and Phloem

Stem Vocab:  Bark, Xylem, Phloem 

Leaf Vocab: Cotyledon, Stoma, Guard Cells, Epidermis, TRUE Leaves

Flower Vocab: F
lower Parts ( look these up) , Pollination,  Photosynthesis, Seed Pods, 

                          Fertilization, Bee Stick

Part B

 17 leaves from school and 6 from home

    Include: Common name, Scientific name, tag #, use of tree

Work on plant vocabulary. They must first define each word using their textbook or computer.

After the get the definition they are to continue writing their plant story.

They already have the root chapter done.

We collected 17 leaves around the school last Thursday.

Use data collected and the Tree ID book to identify each leaf.

Write down all the page #'s you looked up in order to find the name of the leaf.

Lab on stomas

Look at the leaf diagram on page 649ish.

(remember some of your books have different page #'s)

Note the position of the stoma.

Using page 644ish in your textbook,  Do the Mini Lab.

Title:  What do stomata look like?

  Remember to start in low power and adjust your light

Hints:

Make a slide  using a  leaf from tree #9.  Lab sheet
Look at the underside of the leaf.
Observe under low and high power.
Under high power, draw a stoma and label its parts.

Label :  guard cell, stoma, & chloroplasts

Using page 644ish in your textbook,  Do the Mini Lab.

Answer questions 1-3 on the back of the lab sheet.

Look on page 643 for an explanation on how the guard cells work.
